Get to Know Us

Financially Independent Teachers began as a passion project in 2019.  Dave started his teaching career in 2006 and quickly developed an interest in learning about his teacher benefits, pension and retirement.  Over the years, Dave started sharing his passion with his coworkers, prompting him to start FIT.  From the encouragement of is colleagues, Dave decided to take a leap of faith and start Financially Independent Teachers.

In its infancy, FIT started with social media posts and financial coaching/consulting.  Shortly thereafter, Dave decided to take FIT to the airwaves and launch the Financially Independent Teachers Podcast.  Now enter, Brandon Spiece. Brandon began his teaching career in 2002 in Fayetteville, NC.  After moving to the North Carolina Coast, Dave and Brandon met through county social studies meetings and via mutual friends in the coaching community.  Through social media posts and an eagerness to help others become more financially literate, Brandon accepted Dave's invitation to start the FIT Podcast.  The show launched in February of 2020 and neither of us could have imagined it turning into speaking engagements and our new book "The FIT Position".

Dave and Brandon are both classroom teachers in Eastern, NC and love spreading the word of building wealth, financial independence to anyone who is willing to listen!
